Peak of Cime Caron

La Cîme Caron (3195 m) in Val Thorens, is one of the emblematic peaks of the largest ski area in the world, the 3 Valleys.

Lovers of great skiing and pedestrians can embark on a fabulous trip with the Cîme Caron cable car. Departure from the center of the resort to finish the ascent at 3195 meters high !
The arrival, half suspended in the void, is considered one of the most impressive in the world.
At the summit, a 360° panorama with a view of more than 1000 summits of the French, Italian and Swiss Alps and the Mont-Blanc in the background! To name just a few: Mont Brequin, the Meije, the Aiguilles d'Arves, the glaciers of Chavière and Le Bouchet.
An orientation table will help you to locate them. You can also sit at the table of the altitude restaurant to have all the leisure to contemplate this majestic setting!

In 1982, SETAM built the highest and largest cable car in the world at the time, a real technological feat! This set of gondolas is one of the most expensive projects in the history of cable transportation. It will allow the cable car to go from 876 m to 3,186 m in altitude, i.e. a vertical drop of 2,310 m!

From the winter season 2020-2021, possibility to link by gondola the Tarentaise and Maurienne valleys (Orelle resort at 876m), feet dry!

Access by cable car winter / summer :
The Cime Caron is accessible by ski lifts from the center of Val Thorens resort via the Cairn then Caron gondolas and the Cime Caron cable car.
From the parking at the bottom of the resort (P4) via the Caron gondola and then the Caron cable car.

Pedestrian path access :
Val Thorens- Take the road, then the track of La Moutière and park at the artificial lake (not carted) of La Moutière.

From the lake of la Moutière (2476), go left on the track that you can see going up in the distance and which passes under the Plateau ski lift and the Grand Fond funicular.
Follow this long steep slope (red ski slope of Laudzin), it will take you to the top of the Cime de Caron (3195) via the Col de Laudzin (2804).
