It is the gateway to the Belleville Valley. Saint-Jean-de-Belleville (1140 m) is only a few minutes from the ski resorts of Saint-Martin-de-Belleville (5 minutes) and Les Menuires (10 minutes).
In this wild and quiet valley, there are some real “gems” throughout that bear witness to to the location’s unspoilt rural heritage. A must-see is the hamlet of Deux-Nants or the mountain pasture of La Sauce where herds of Tarines graze in summer. You will discover there typical chalets nicely decorated with flowers, small chapels, streams… At the Combes mountain pasture, a 20-minute walk from La Sauce, Beaufort cheese is made and sold on site.

Setting off from the hamlet of La Flachère, this is a relatively short circular route.
It will take you through the magnificent hamlets of Deux-Nants and La Sauce, two peaceful havens with a bucolic atmosphere, stone and wooden chalets surrounded by pretty flowers, streams and Alpine pastures in which Tarine and Abondance cows graze. Though relatively steep-sided, this circuit still offers pretty views of MontBlanc, Les Encombres Valley and the Cheval Noir summit (2,832m) when you get toPlan Lombardie. Enjoy a well-earned sweet or savoury treatin thebeautiful mountain refuge. Just 15 minutes from La Sauce, explore Les Combes mountain pasture where cheese is made and sold on site.

If you’re looking for more of an easy, family walk, set off from La Flachère to explore the hamlets of Deux-Nants and La Sauce, boasting enchanting, bucolic settings. The Plan Lombardie mountain refuge is just a few minutes away and willdelight anybody feeling a bit peckish with homemade cooking and local tartlets, a real post-exercise reward!
The Belleville Valley’s rich heritage invites you to take a culture-filled break: Saint-Martin museum, the Notre-Dame-de-la-Vie Baroque sanctuary (a former pilgrimage destination in Savoie), Notre-Dame-des-Grâces chapel,Burdin mill andthe Mélifera Bee Museum.
