This 17th century Baroque church, perched high up on a plateau, like a lighthouse protecting the Tarentaise valley below, was built to replace a smaller 12th century church, also dedicated to Mary. Standing like the prow of a ship between village and fields, it patiently awaits you!.
The church and bell tower are located on the edge of the village, standing guard over the site and dominating the entire valley.
In 1647, the church interior was decorated in an ornate, Baroque style and the orientation of the building was altered to face the opposite direction. The new façade features a triple bay window, illuminating both the gallery and nave.
A host of treasures await you inside including an altarpiece in contrasting colours, and tabernacle with slim, golden columns. Amongst the flitting cherubs you'll also spot the patient Saint Barbara holding her tower!
All year round, daily between 9 am and 6 pm.
