Moûtiers, a village Etape

Soon a new motorhome area in Moûtiers!

At the heart of the Tarentaise Valley, in Savoie, the town of Moûtiers is a “Village Étape” or Stopover Village on the way to the ski resorts of the 3 Vallées area and Haute Tarentaise, as well as the Vanoise National Park.

Italy is also just 2 hours away via the Iseran and Madeleine mountain passes, offering easy access to Aosta and Turin.

A historical town brimming with surprises, where listed buildings sit side by side with Street Art murals. It’s an ideal stopover location on the way to your holiday!

On market days (Tuesdays and Fridays), visit the thousand-year-old cathedral, model railway or former archbishop’s palace to discover in summer its painting and sculpture area, before strolling along the Grande Rue and doing a spot of window shopping.

Discover the history of the Savoie region, the Tarentaise Valley and Moûtiers through the lifestyles of yesteryear and vestiges of historical civilisations from Prehistory to the 19th century at the Folk Museum and the Museum of History and Archaeology.

Food lovers and gourmets will enjoy watching Beaufort cheese being made at the dairy cooperative, or treating their taste buds in one of the town’s many restaurants and sampling our local specialities.

The town is a real basecamp for exploring Cœur de Tarentaise, its lakes, Alpine pastures and nearby summits. Are you ready to take to the heights and admire our beautiful valley? The Cime Caron cable car will take you up to 3,195 m in just a few minutes!
